62nd Wyoming Legislature

The 62nd Wyoming Legislature convenes on Tuesday, January 8, with the Governor’s State of the State on Wednesday at 10 AM to joint House and Senate gathering in the State Capitol.

The new Speaker of the House is Tom Lubnau from Gillette and the Majority Leader will be Kermit Brown from Laramie; the new Senate President is Tony Ross from Cheyenne and the Majority Floor Leader Phil Nicholas. The biggest change will be the addition of sixteen new State House of Representatives—some 27%.

In the 40 day session, key issues to watch include: the gas tax, health care planning under the Affordable Health Care Act, education accountability and tension between the legislature and the Department of Education, somewhat static state revenues, and threats to Wyoming’s coal industry.>

As we do every year, the Wyoming Business Alliance will be doing a weekly Legislative Report. You may access this by going to our web site. Please let us know what issues concern you the most.

The Wyoming Business’ 16 Annual Legislative Dinner we be held Wednesday evening, February 20 at Little America.
