Amity Shlaes, one of the nation’s most respected economic commentators, will be one of the lead speakers at this year’s Wyoming Business Alliance/ Wyoming Heritage Foundation’s forum in Casper on November 19-20.
Shlaes is a syndicated columnist for Bloomberg and Financial Times, commentator for Marketplace Radio, and the author of the New York Times bestselling book, “The Forgotten Man: A New History of the Great Depression.” As a Senior Fellow for Economic History at the prestigious Council on Foreign Relations, Shlaes areas of expertise include economics, U.S. tax policy and relative competiveness. Her most recent Op-Eds include There’s Better Umpire for Corporate Pay (Washington Post, 8/16/09) and Death Panel Needed for Health-Debate Hypocrisy (Bloomberg, 8/11/09). Shlaes has demonstrated an understanding of economic realities and consequences (She has published regularly in dozens of different magazines, journals, and newspapers in the U.S. and Europe), and is cautious about government intervention.
